What You Can Do To Ease Your Back Pain

For some suffering from back pain, the answer is often pain medication, but this will only help for the short term. You have to think about long-term care for your back pain, such as treatments that can help ease your back pain and continue to ease your pain. These are things that you may be able to do on your own. Read on for helpful information to help ease your back pain.

Lose Weight And Exercise

Losing weight may help with your back pain. If you are overweight, carrying the extra weight can be what is causing your pain to persist. If you have back pain, losing weight can help you bounce back from injuries faster and can help keep your body more flexible or limber. Talk to your physician about losing weight and to help you get on a weight loss plan. Exercise can also help with this, not just with losing weight, but with your pain as well. Your joints and muscles will strengthen and can help you heal as well.

Adjust Your Posture

Change your posture so you are sitting and standing properly. If you are always hunched over, you could end up with further back pain. You should stand up straight with your spine in alignment, your shoulders back, and your hips in line with your shoulders. When sitting, be sure to keep your feet on the ground or crossed at the ankle, with your back up against the back of the seat. If you hunch over while sitting, such as at work or even while watching television at home on the couch, you could end up with a sore back from sitting in the same awkward position for too long.

Sleep Properly

Your posture while you sleep can also make a difference in your back pain. If you sleep on your side, for instance, you should place a pillow between your knees to help keep your hips in alignment. Sleeping on your back and stomach can cause back pain, as you could arch your back too much that you have pain in your lower back. Sleep with a pillow that is supportive and not too hard or soft. Your mattress should be the same way, it should contour to your body and provide support for all parts of your body.

About Me

chiropractic care after having a baby

My pregnancies weren't as bad as some women experience, but after having my third baby, my back and hips were causing me a lot of pain. I had talked with my doctor and had a few exams and he suggested that I go and see a chiropractor. It turns out, when a woman's body carries a baby, things can easily become misaligned. Then, when the woman has to push that beautiful little being out of her tummy, more damage can occur. My chiropractor has helped me in so many ways. If you are experiencing the same issues, visit my blog.
